SUMMARY:A Task Programming Implementation for the Particle in Cell Code SM
 ILEI
DESCRIPTION:Paper\n\nA Task Programming Implementation for the Particle in
Cell Code SMILEI\n\nMassimo, Lobet, Derouillat, Beck, Bouchard...\n\nAn i
mplementation of the electromagnetic Particle in Cell loop in the code Smi
lei using task programming is presented. Through OpenMP, the macro-particl
es operations are formulated in terms of tasks. This formulation allows as
ynchronous execution respect- ing the data dependencies of the macro-parti
cle operations, the most time-consuming part of the code in simulations of
interest for plasma physics. Through some benchmarks it is shown that thi
s formulation can help mitigating the load imbalance of these oper- ations
at the OpenMP thread level. The improvements in strong scaling for load-i
mbalanced physical cases are discussed.\n\nDomain: Computer Science and Ap
