Jan Thorbecke received a MSc in applied Earth Sciences in 1991 and a PhD in Applied Physics in 1997 at Delft University of Technology. Since 1997 Jan works at Cray as application and performance engineer in high performance computing. In 2020 he became a distinguished technologist at HPE-Cray and works as performance engineer on the optimisation and parallelisation of compute intensive scientific applications. Since 2002 he also works (0.2) at Delft University of Technology as senior researcher on the development of new imaging algorithms. His research interest is in the design and implementation of imaging, modelling and data processing algorithms.
