Dr Chris Smith is a senior research fellow from Leeds, UK, currently based at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis near Vienna. Chris's research is between the complex and simplified aspects of climate modelling: translating climate projections from Earth System Models into highly-parameterised representations known as "emulators". Chris has also worked extensively on the Earth's energy and radiation budget. Chris was a contributing author to the IPCC's Working Group 1 and Working Group 3 contributions to the IPCC's Sixth Assessment Report, where the climate emulator he led development of was used extensively.
